this was such, such an amazing read !! i read this all in silence, and wow did it intesify the moment. this was incredibly well written and even amazingly coded, i cannot believe it is your first time with twine!! every use of pause, was so purposeful and effective in setting the tension behind each word.
i felt that it was so. real? every emotion behind the words on the screen felt so raw to me, the fear, the hatred, the dread, every emotion that was not pretty, i felt it. the use of pixel art was such a great choice, especially the eye. i felt that was such a chilling moment, and the way you wrote it from words of comfort to words of warning, was so so smart and beautiful that it made me sit there for a moment
overall, this writing was amazing. it felt so natural to read through, so personal and delivered everything so well even without stating outright what occurred!! i could gush abt this all day, definetly remembering this and replaying it whenever, amazing use of storytelling. you scared me, but also deeply moved me :)
This was a wonderful experience to read through, I really enjoyed your writing! I first read it a few months ago, and several of the things you wrote have not left my mind since- so I've come back to read it again.
This seems super interesting, but i've ran into an issue... I play the game, couldn't press to start until I went into full screen, which is how I normally play anyways, thats not a terrible issue, but the next one made it unplayable for me. I cannot scroll down, or anything, so after getting to step 2 of the letter, I cannot see anything more. Theres no scroll bar, or anything. I've tried using arrow keys, using WASD, using pg up and down, and nothing is working. The screenshot is all that I can see... Am I missing something? (i even tried highlighting the words and dragging down... Still nada)
This is really good, you can feel the hatred, the anger, the dissapointment in yourself because you're still scared ; and you can feel how Lotte must be walking clumsily, because suddenly she's not grown up anymore, she's a child (again)
I didn't quite like the house "twist" (not sure if it's considered one) because it isn't my cup of tea, but I still really really liked the game, 5/5 stars!
I like how the action gradually transitions from metaphorical to literal, such that you can’t pinpoint where exactly the switch was, or if the descriptions were ever figurative to begin with
I adore house horror, and this was an incredible read. The atmosphere was impeccable; the stairs to the basement filled me with a real sense of dread as I 'descended' along with the text, and I loved the representation of ever-shifting thoughts and opinions in the cycling options. I especially loved how much it seems like the house is grinning at the reader. This was a visceral experience even before the decaying body came in, and it's gonna stick with me for a good while, I can feel it. Thank you for sharing such amazing work!
i love the limited palette and visual elements, it really made the little changes and shifts all that much more noticeable and impactful. It takes you in as you go deeper into the story and just all around really good at consuming your attention. this is amazing work
This game left me crying, you could tell a story through pixelart and text that changed in color, brightness, position, everything to make it fit perfectly, and it did, by far, I'm a very emotional person with these kinds of games, specially with big, disturbing and emotional revelations, and it was too much, in a good way. How the house is its own character, the depictions of disturbing imagery, the scientific data to fill in information along with some history, everything to show (what I think might be) metaphores as to what is happening or will happen, everything fits perfectly, beautifully, through the eyes of a person that at first seems just annoyed, angry, to a warped reality closing in...and eventually ending in a great climax, I loved it and hope to play other projects of yours, this deserves praise and recognition, both things I hope I have provided to you in this comment.
just played this, incredible! this is a really unique form of a horror game that i haven't seen before, and im excited to see what you make in the future :)
holy shit, this made my jaw drop. fucking incredible work here!!! so so striking and beautifully made. really, really glad i decided to give it a read. thank you!
found this browsing itch.io, didn't know ur tumblr before reading. just wanted to say how cool and clever i found this. it's really interesting how you deliver the text and make the reader slow down and linger on words and variations of the words. (i think this type of click-adventure is the first i've seen in poems. were u inspired by similar stuff? bcz i'd love to see more shit like this) and the shape of the paragraphs, and the timing they're fed to us, revealing what's happening in present tense. and the white pixelated little visual aids were so lovely. like shadowy images. u made a beautiful interactive text story.
i'm actually slowly working through more things in this vein of fiction! as far as inspirations and similar stories go, "cycles" by cecile richard has a similar vibe (mostly because i played it and went "HOW CAN I DO THIS?"). besides that, the style was mostly just a result of me having trouble with larger paragraphs in fiction because of dyslexia/various other processing disorders. also it's really fun to click through text and to see it change + i love word art so much
Really enjoyed it! The vibe is eerie and well put together, great job op :) Really like the little add-in fact-thingies that parallel the main house plot (like the rat king texts)
;_; !! i appreciate that a whole bunch, i was really worried about my writing because i don't typically write prose or ... much of anything ... im glad it resonated with you so much!
